Jon - Another creditable performance from the Red Chilli - always a decent meal there and the company was excellent as usual.

Jeff - We held our pre-curry drink at the adjacent Brown Bear, which seemed to me to have had a small but welcome clean-up since our last visit, or maybe it was just that the bar staff actually smiled and there was more than one ale on, at a good deal less than £5 a pint too. The Red Chilli had a table set up at the front for us, as we were originally 7, but when we said we were only 4 (barely quorate) they ushered us towards the back to a dark corner; Neil and I needed our phone torches to read the menu, but our eyes grew used to the crepuscular light in the end. I chose a king prawn puri which didn't disappoint. Main was Chicken Nawa which turned out very spicy, almost too hot for me, but mixing it in with the decent veg helped lower it. Good choice of 3 bottled beers, and a free liqueur offered at the end too. A pretty good meal I thought all told. Question: is this the first Currymarks outing where NO bread was ordered?

Mark - After the now regular drop outs we were down to the bare 4. Brown Bear warm up followed by the long walk next door to Red Chilli was negotiated without problems but we were then moved from the front to the back of the room due to our reduced numbers. A choice of bottled beers but no draught. Chicken Moricha to start was a new one for me and turned out to be very pleasant. For main I again went off piste and had Chicken Manchuria (I think?) which was tasty, plentiful and perhaps worth trying again sometime. Rice & veg all acceptable and there were no breads in sight! My poppadum art was appreciated by the waiter and good to be offered a digestif at the end. The big discussion of the night was as to whether any Currymarks members had a tattoo?? TBC.

Neil - A small turnout but a great curry night. The four of us met at the now very familiar Brown Bear, then made the short hop next door to the Red Chilli. This was reasonably busy for a January with Lockdown just ending. Service was good but the selection of beer was limited to bottles. Starter (mixed platter) and main (chicken byriani) were both excellent and would have each scored ten if the chicken was slightly more tender. The starter was surprisingly hot, be warned! A free round of drinks at the end helped make the vfm more acceptable although no Bailey's with crushed ice.
