Jon - Matab’s delivered an excellent curry with everything cooked to perfection. I changed my usual dish and went for the Lamb Vindaloo which had very succulent meat and lots of flavour. All the veg dishes were excellent (yes, I tried them all). The only slight downside was the lack of other customers, although one other group did come in later on, but it didn’t detract from a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The non-attendees missed a real treat.
John - Another good performance by Matab's. Started with crab cakes which were a little bland but followed by an exceptional Chicken Jalfrezi - the best I've had. No serious afterburn! VFM marked down as service was automatically added to the bill which upped the cost considerably. Ended the evening by taking on some Stansfield exposure, which considering his employment status is like buying a junk bond!
Graeme - The food was of an extremely high standard. I have no recollection of my starter but I think I enjoyed it! My main course was a duck dish which was really tasty and the sag aloo was superb. I marked it down on ambience as there was no atmosphere (it was empty when we got there). Price-wise, it was a bit lumpy. It should be noted that Rats has become a Big Swinging Dick - on a conference call at work till about 7:00pm - the unemployed amongst us had been in the pub since 5:15.
Robin - A good chicken tikka starter was followed by an excellent chicken masala with just the right balance between spiciness and "bite". The special rice was also good as were the various vegetable dishes - full flavoured and not at all greasy. The prices are not for the faint hearted, and indeed I can't recall a more expensive outing. However, this place is well worth a visit and I hope to be returning to it next year.
Alex - A bit expensive, more than one would expect looking at the menu.
